3 Questions to Ask Your Doctor About Sclerotherapy in Phoenix

Author: Hassan S. Makki, D.O., FACC

Has one of your friends had sclerotherapy at Valley Vein Center? If so, you may have seen the results and thought, “Wow! I could use something like that for myself.” However, sclerotherapy may or may not be the best treatment option for your particular condition. If you have spider veins or smaller varicose veins – and are looking for treatment in Phoenix, AZ – click here to schedule a consultation at Valley Vein Center. You may discuss a few of these questions during your initial appointment.

#1 What is my vein condition?

Leave the diagnostic work to your physician. Small varicose veins may sometimes be mistaken for spider veins, and vice versa. The type of vein damage that’s present in your legs can have an impact on your health. For example, spider veins are usually only a cosmetic issue; but varicose veins could be an indicator of chronic venous insufficiency or peripheral artery disease.

#2 Do I need treatment?

Not all damaged veins require treatment. Spider veins, for example, usually do not pose any threat to health (though they may cause achiness and discomfort). (Still, many patients at Valley Vein Center choose to undergo sclerotherapy in order to relieve this discomfort and improve their appearance.) Varicose veins may require treatment, or they may only need to be monitored. Your physician can tell you more during your consultation.

#3 What kind of vein treatment is right for me?

Sclerotherapy is one of several treatments for veins offered at Valley Vein Center. Many of our patients choose sclerotherapy in Phoenix because it’s a relatively quick procedure (takes less than an hour), requires no anesthesia, and allows patients to return to their normal activities that same day. However, sclerotherapy isn’t right for everyone. For patients with larger varicose veins, VenefitTM Targeted Endovenous Therapy may be a better choice. Your physician at Valley Vein Center will present all of the options that may be available to you.
