Michael S. Makki, D.O., FACC is board-certified in internal and cardiovascular medicine. He moved to Phoenix after completing his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship in Michigan through the Michigan State statewide campus program at Garden City Hospital.

After treating hypertension, heart failure, coronary artery disease and rhythm disorders for five years through his general cardiology practice, he returned to the catheterization laboratory for further training. He completed an additional Interventional Fellowship at St. John Hospital in Macomb Michigan. There, he trained in both coronary and peripheral interventions utilizing the latest techniques, technologies and equipment.

Dr. Makki strives for a holistic approach to patient care that starts with an honest conversation about the patient's individual needs and expectations. Dr. Makki believes in combining tried and true remedies with cutting edge technologies in order to help the patient achieve desired outcomes.

He is a strong proponent of preventive medicine and advocates and lives a healthy lifestyle. He believes in coupling daily exercise and the consumption of fresh unaltered foods with judicious guideline directed medication use when necessary.

He has particular interests in peripheral vascular disease and specializes in the treatment of both arterial and venous disorders. Dr. Makki is proud to be part of the SL2 Program at St. Luke’s Medical Center. This program is designed to significantly reduce the risk and need of limb amputations by restoring arterial blood flow to critical limbs. On the venous side, he helped establish the Valley Vein Center that has since enhanced the quality of life for hundreds of individuals by the treatment of malfunctioning veins in a minimally invasive and often painless manner.

He is now accepting cardiac and vascular patients at the Phoenix Heart Center.
